Can I install TeleBeam myself?

Yes, if you are a builder or an experienced DIYer with carpentry skills - the system has been developed especially for you.

Why would I need a builder?

If you have not had any construction experience we strongly recommend that you engage a builder to help with the installation. Can I see an example of a TeleBeam conversion?Yes, arrange to come along to one of our open days in the South-West contact us for details.

What does it cost?

The system is around £5,000+VAT for a typical 2/3 bedroomed house, depending on the size. Please contact us for a quotation

How long will it take to install?

TeleBeam installation can usually be carried out in one week, excluding finishings.

Do I need special equipment?

You will need scaffolding for one side of the house - costs for this vary from region to region.

What about the pitch of my roof?

Telebeam works for any roof pitch.

How much headroom do I need?

The minimum headroom at the highest point of the loft needs to be a minimum of 2.4 metres.

Do I need planning permission?

Normally Planning Permission would not be required for a loft conversion unless the property is in a Conservation Area, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or a National Park.

It is advisable to check with your Local Authority and also check whether any special Planning Conditions were imposed on the property when the original Planning Permission for the house was granted.

What about building regulations approval?

Building Regulations approval is required for a loft conversion to check fire safety, insulation standards, staircase details and structural stability.

TeleBeam has achieved LABC (Local Authority Building Control) National Type Approval for structural stability and will be accepted automatically as long as the situation is within the loading and span constraints.

What size of loft does it fit?

TeleBeam has been developed primarily for the conversion of fink pattern roof trusses at nominal 600mm centres with a maximum clear span from 6.2m to 8.4m (depending upon which system is used, i.e. TeleBeam 6.2 has a clear span of 6.2m) between external walls with normal interlocking concrete tiles or slate loading. Tackling a loft conversion requires considerable building competence - if you are in any doubt you should not tackle it without the help and advice of a suitably qualified builder.
